I had braces and I thought going to college with braces on was a big deal. So, I told my folks I wanted to have them taken off. They said, “No, you need another 6 months. I said, “Look, I’m not going to go to college with braces on. We’re going to give them taken off, or I’m going to take them off.” So, my folks relented and I went to the orthodontist and they took them off. As I got older, I realized that I was a grinder. At night, I sleep and I grind. So, I came in and I said, “I was hoping I could do something quick and easy cosmetically. They said, “Oh my God, no. This is a pretty big deal.”
I've always had a fair amount of confidence and success and that kind of thing, but I'm certainly going to be able to keep that confidence and maybe more so, just because of that.
Dr. Allred:
When I first met Steve, he was really hesitant to do anything. He had a lot of dental work before. So, I told him, I said, “Hey, you’ve got some really short teeth. This is going to be a difficult case. Let me do a mock-up of your teeth first and actually put some temporaries on your teeth, to see how they look, to see how you bite, and see what you think.”
Steve:
So he said, “We’ll have to do an impression and I’ll have to build a model and make sure that it all fits and we liked it.” That’s what he did and I came back and I like the way the model looked. Turns out he’s a bit of an artist. Really. Because I was asking his assistant, “My God who created this?” She says, “Oh he did. He’s quite an artist.” Anyway, I came back and they started putting things back together and then we finally got the real deal. The crown’s came and they put them on. I never thought that I was going to end up with nice looking teeth. This was a godsend, in a way, because I got beautiful results. Doctor Allred used the term. “I’m going to change your life” and I thought, “Okay kid, change my life. That’s pretty big.” I don’t think he changed my life, but in a way it kind of did it. I’ve always had a fair amount of confidence and success and that kind of thing, but I’m certainly going to be able to keep that confidence and maybe more so, just because of that.
